Many ski experts call Bansko Bulgaria's number one ski resort, probably because it has the finest and most up-to-the-minute ski centre and the most luxurious hotels compared to the other resorts, however with the volume of investment going on in projects like Super Boroverts and Pamporovo’s Perlik project, the other resorts are in strong competition. Bansko differs from the other resorts in that it was not a purpose-built ski resort and offers more of a town atmosphere. It too is seeing its fair share of multi-million Euro investment with the creation of several new ski areas, which will expand the overall area substantially. Out of all of the Bulgarian resorts, Bansko has the best snow record and consequently the longest ski season, which runs from 15th December through ‘til 15th May and with the addition of 161 powerful snow cannons, the quality and guarantee of snow makes the resort even more attractive.
