Weather Warnings For All

Bulgarian news have during the past few weeks been reporting coloured codes to warn people of the potential dangers from theĀ intense heat and high temperatures that have swept the country, in particular the past few days where many regions have seen thermometers reach up to 40 degrees Celsius.

The National Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences have recently reported Code orange for when temperatures are between 38 - 41 degrees Celsius, and where the heat can prove dangerous to the health of the public. Code Yellow also means potential dangers from the weather conditions, with high summer temperatures expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius.

The warnings are there to help make the public aware of the dangers from the sun and ask people to take the obvious measures - Stay inside when possible or in shaded areas, drink plenty of water, use sun block and wear loose comfortable clothes and avoid alcohol.

The precautions also apply to pets and owners should ensure that they are kept in cool environments especially if chained up, and have access to plenty of water. Avoid keeping the animal in cars and small spaces as this can cause heatstroke, heart problems and other health problems and can be potentially dangerous to the animals.
