Ways to Save Money at Home

There are many ways to save money at home; here are our top tips to help you cut your winter bills this year.

1. Hang heavy curtains. By hanging thicker curtains, you'll notice how warmer the room feels.

2. Fill drafty spaces. Though you may not be able to notice, door frames and cracks near the windows can cause drafts. Head to a DIY shop and get yourself some silicone sealant to seal up the cracks. There may be little holes around the house that you don't even know about.

3. Fill your chimney. Is your fireplace unused? If so, you should invest in a chimney balloon to fill the hole. Fireplaces that are kept unused suck warmth out of a room and can cause a draft.

4. Keep your vents clean. Unclean vents and air conditioning units slow down the flow of heated air leading people to run the unit for long stretches of time. So make sure you clean then and keep them that way.

5. Turn down your heating. If you turn your central heating down by just one degree, your yearly heating bill will benefit from it and you'll save a good percentage off of your bill.
