Recipe Using Bulgarian Yogurt - Snezhanska salad

This is an easy recipe using Bulgarian yogurt, and there are many variations of this recipe from all over the Balkan regions. Snezhanska is Bulgaria's version and similar to the Greek version tsatziki. Snezhanska means "snow white" and is a drier version of Bulgaria's Tarator.

Snezhanska salad - recipe using Bulgarian Yogurt - ingredients

500g drained Bulgarian yogurt

1/2 cucumber, peeled and diced

2-3 garlic cloves, crushed (depends on taste)

1tbs oil

fresh dill

Chopped walnuts to garnish (optional)

salt to taste

To Prepare this tasty recipe using Bulgarian Yogurt

In a large bowl drain the yogurt in a sieve covered with thin cloth, it will take a while to allow the excess water to filter.

When all the water is gone combine the yogurt with the cucumber, garlic, dill, oil and salt and stir well. Place in the fridge for a few hours to let the flavours mix.

Garnish with walnuts and serve as an appetizer, as a dip with vegetables, salad, meats or bread.
