Lighting Up Time For Motorists

Bulgarian traffic police will be mounting a surveillance operation of motorists all over the country from November 1st to

November 20th. For this period the police (KAT) will be monitoring and stopping vehicles who are not using their lights during the 4 months winter period in which all drivers in the country are required by law to have their vehicles lights on from November 1st to March 1st.

The aim of the operation is to help prevent the normally high incidence of serious road accidents during the Autumn and winter seasons in Bulgaria.
In addition to this, work has also began nationwide to inspect and repair street lights on main roads and to repaint faded and damaged road markings.
'Action Svetlina' (action light) is part of a 16 year operation.
