New German Factory

Witte Automotive Bulgaria, which is a subsidiary of the German firm Witte Automotive GmbH is going to invest a total of BGN 21 million in the construction of a new factory for electronic and mechanical car parts in the Danube city of Rousse, reports Sofia News Agency.

The project will employ between 300 and 400 people and will also include a research and development centre, the Vice-President of Witte Automotive, Thomas Jindra announced.

Witte Automotive Bulgaria was registered in August 2008. Its only owner is Witte Automative GmbH, which is a leading producer of vehicle access systems. Its clients include Volkswagen, BMW, Volvo, Audi, Daimler, Opel, Ford.

Witte Automotive currently manages seven manufacturing plants - six in Germany and one in the Czech Republic. The total number of its employees is 3000, and its largest plant with 1500 workers is located in the Czech town of Neidek.

Witte has decided to build a plant in Bulgaria as part of its plan to expand its market share in Southeast Europe. It has chosen Rousse for the investment because of its favourable location, the available qualified labour and the transport infrastructure.

Another European car parts producer, the French group Montupet invested over BGN 70 million in a new factory in Rousse, which was opened in September and will work with Renault, Peugeot, Audi, and Ford.
