3 Night Holidays

3 night holidays are on the increase for many who are seeking a way to de-stress before or after the Christmas period and the hectic closing of the year. Short breaks can usually be arranged around family commitments and work duties and during the winter months one can expect to find an array of great bargain accommodation in some of Bulgaria's amazing cities.

Where to Choose

Bulgaria has very few flight links with the U.K so it is important to choose a city which has everything, including an airport! In this first article we take a look at the coastal city of Burgas, what is has to offer and how to get there.

Getting There

3 night holidays in Burgas can be arranged quite easily but out of season flights are limited to flying from Luton airport to Burgas. The airline Wizzair www.wizzair.com offer flights from £100 return per person if booked in enough advance.

Burgas airport is located only 15 minutes from the city centre so a taxi would only cost around £4-£5.

About Burgas

Burgas is located in the south-eastern portion of Bulgaria alongside the Black Sea Coast. It has a population of around 300,000 inhabitants who reside within its sixteen districts. The Port of Burgas is the largest in the country.

Accommodation

There are no shortages of accommodation in Burgas and you will easily find a hotel suitable for all tastes. Take a look at the Burgas Grand Hotel, Hotel Bulgaria and Hotel Burgas, these all offer the very best of comfort and good food.

Eating Out

Burgas offers the visitor a wealth of high class affordable restaurants including traditional and international, offering cuisine from Turkey, China, Greece, Italy and Russia to name a few.
You can choose the location where you would like to dine from inner city to the famous Sea Garden with its fabulous sea views.

Bars

Both the city centre and the Sea Garden offer classy drinking holes to relax and take in some live music or for those who enjoy the peace and quiet there are plenty of others to choose.

Nightclubs

For the party lovers Burgas has some fantastic nightclubs which remain open until the wee hours. Live concerts are held in the grounds of the Sea Garden from time to time where you can appreciate all types of music from classical to traditional and rock.

Daytime

The city has some wonderful shops within its centre and more can be found in the new modern state of the art shopping malls such as the Burgas Plaza and the newer Galleria.
For those who don't enjoy shopping then take a long walk through the Sea Garden which is a real joy at any time of year. There you will find great restaurants serving the locally caught fish and traditional foods. During the summer months the Sea Garden is lined with palm trees along its magnificent promenade and paths. The path system is very large and includes dual cycle lanes.

Burgas along with Nessebur (mentioned below) is home to several of the country's top museums which are well worth a visit.

Recommended Excursion

The region of Burgas has the highly popular Sunny Beach resort which is approx 30 minutes drive from the city. However, out of season Sunny Beach is very quite with none of the attractions of the summer season operating.

Near to Sunny Beach is the medieval beautiful town of Nessebur, a fishing village with many archaeological attractions, quaint fish restaurants and an enchanting harbour. Nessebur is a very popular all year round destination for both Bulgarian and foreign tourists.
